Congratulations on your new horse property! my current barn was an existing garage that we converted into a barn and added a side porch. the barn is a metal structure with regular framing. the interior was finished in drywall that i covered with 3/4" plywood to 8' height.. My mom and i were talking about turning our three car garage into a barn.its connected to the the house though. is it possible to convert a garage into a barn? the ceiling also has to be high enough for a horse to raise its head fully. how big is the garage( eg. 1,2,3, or 4+ cars)?. We are continuing the messy project of converting the old shed into a horse barn. the floor needed raised up 10 inches or so to keep the horse out of the water when it rains..

In this case the mulligan’s converted their carport into a horse barn but with a few adjustments it could become a barn for just about any kind of livestock. without the stalls it would be even a less expensive easier project for a garage.. A drive through the country isn’t complete without seeing a beautiful barn. us city kids are a bit deprived when it comes to seeing rustic beauty, c'est la vie. i have stumbled onto this idea for turning a carport into a barn that will bring a little bit of the country to the suburban life. it is a great idea and much easier to fit by the house than a full sized barn..
